Here at Just Good Furniture we offer a wide selection of wall mirrors and dressing mirrors. Mirrors are often used as a decorative focal point within a room, often above a sideboard, a console table or within a hallway.
Mirrors
Mirrors are known to have been around since at least 6000 BC when polished stones were first used to produce a reflective surface. Later, polished metals were used to create the same effect. As times progressed, glass was mixed with various metals in order to create more effective and clearer images. Today glass is still mixed with metals to produce the modern clear mirrors we use daily.
For thousands of years, mirrors have been surrounded with superstition, particularly in relation to breaking a mirror.
As well as being used for domestic purposes, as commerce has progressed, mirrors have been used in many industries such as dentistry, car manufacture, architecture and engineering to aid their work.
Today, mirrors are an essential item for any area in the home and as a result we now see an abundance of trendy or funky mirrors in the shops or online, alongside the more classical or traditional style mirrors. Mirrors are very functional items but can also be attractive enough to create a focal point for the room.
They appear in various designs and sizes including full length mirrors, free standing or tilting Cheval mirrors, wall mirrors and also dressing mirrors.
Hanging a mirror in a small area can make the space appear bigger, giving the appearance of more depth or height to the room.
