Dining Benches
Dining benches offer a modern, social and fresh way of sitting at the dining table. They often feature in homes where there are children in the family or a larger number of people. Today they can be located in the kitchen, diner, breakfast room or in the dining room in the home.
Having been used for many centuries in grander stately homes, benches featured heavily in the banqueting hall of castles to be used by visiting guests and dignitaries at celebrations. They were also often seen in the kitchens of older manor houses when used by servants.
In more recent times, they regained popularity and can be used in the modern home as an alternative to the
dining chair or to the stool.
The bench is usually the same length as the dining table and is a functional piece of furniture to sit on when eating meals. Most benches are made from sturdy woods such as solid Oak, Pine or Birch. Woods are the most frequently used material as they are a robust substance and will stand the test of time as your family changes and grows. Depending on the size of the bench, most examples found in the family home would accommodate between 2 to 4 adults. However larger wooden benches can be found which will seat a greater number of people when sitting at a banqueting table or a medieval style table.
Many benches have a simple design with clean lines, whilst others can be elaborate and have carvings or other feature decorations.

The bench is ideal for casual dining in a kitchen, diner or breakfast room. It is ideal when eating a leisurely breakfast, a snack with the family or a casual lunch.
